Our Curriculum

Our curriculum uses an inquiry based thematic model. Teachers introduce themed topics, and adjust instruction based on student interest and inquiry.  Students do not have regular screen time.

Our program highlights the following learning pillars:

  1. Life Skills & Habits - children learn best with a consistent, predictable routine & environment. We help children build good habits that support their growth and independence while contributing positively to the classroom community.
  2. Time with Nature - outdoor play and exploration is critical for children’s development. Our natural playground promotes digging, building, gardening, creating, exploring and practicing social skills.
  3. Strong Foundations -  Our goal is to prepare students with the school readiness, social skills & foundational academic  skills they need to be successful. There is an extra push for self-advocacy and independence for our students going to Kindergarten.
  4. Expression and Creativity - we acknowledge the curiosity and creativity of young children and provide opportunities through play, art, movement, hands on activities and music daily.

How We Learn

We engage children through play, outdoor learning, movement, art, cooking and more.  Our teachers are trained to engage students to investigate, explore and create. Lessons are fun and engaging, building on child interests and skills. Students in our Pre-K class get an extra boost of Kindergarten readiness.
In our classrooms we practice and learn:

  • Self advocacy and care
  • Practical life skills
  • Cognitive skills
  • Numbers & letters
  • Inquiry & investigation
  • People, places & culture
  • Social skills & friendship
  • Identity & confidence
  • Fine & gross motor skills
  • Communication
  • Care for our environment (indoor and outdoor)
  • Being a good community member

Our teachers are trained in lesson plan writing. We develop lessons based on child interest that meet developmental needs.
We're inspired by  several different learning methods including; Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Inquiry & Project Based Learning and Play Based Learning.
